The title is a lie. Band geeks WILL hurt you. The case in point, of course, is the Cooperstown High School Marching Band, better known as the Black Parade. The administration at the high school isn't exactly known for its intelligence, so they have an annual tradition of sending the one hundred and fifty members of the Black Parade to band camp in Battery City for three days. At first, this year's band camp was just like every other year. The trumpets and the saxophones still hated each other, the freshmen still couldn't march correctly, Pete Wentz was still eating all of the pizza in the cafeteria, and Gerard Way was still trying to convince everyone that "saxy" was a real word. But things didn't stay normal for long. Told from ten different perspectives, this is the story of what happened that fateful year at band camp. Basically just one giant messy bandom AU. Mr Iero is probably the worst and most inexperienced English teacher on the planet, probably even the worst teacher, or even just the worst human being, but this is probably the worst school on the planet, and everyone knows teaching is just about making sixteen year olds laugh in order to better your ego, or at least that's what Frank keeps telling himself. Mr Way is going to get the art department enough funding to have this trip to Paris, even if he dies accomplishing it; other items on his agenda include defending his position as dominant homosexual, and pretentious artist motherfucker, and the new 'amazing' Mr Iero in room sixty eight B has no hopes of stopping him there, even if he is as cute as everyone says, and even if he is totally all for helping Mr Way getting that trip to Paris.

Gerard Way, a grieving teenager, hears a name in the hospital. And at the time, that's all it was: a name. But little did he know the importance that name would carry. TW: suicidal thoughts, death, self harm, depression, mentions of alcoholism
