My best weakness was my heart. I started trusting my mind over my heart after it got me into a real trouble, when it started beating for a guy that I would never ever imagine I would fall into. I never even knew it started beating in a special way for me, but in a very bad way for my high school best friend, or the person that was closest as my sister... I never knew how good it felt to fall for someone, and how it badly hurts knowing he was my best friend’s first boyfriend, the one she called “one true love”. Yeah, I have to admit, and I know you would agree, our hearts sometimes a bastard at how it could beats for the wrong person and it just wouldn’t stop... and some secret smiles are all that we could have... and share.

“He always told me that trouble comes to those who look for it.” Adrienne Mathers didn’t think she was looking for trouble until her father made her. With her future in his hands and no way out of it, Adrienne’s got to make a choice. Either do what she wants or allow her father to shape her future. When she least expects it, Adrienne is pulled from the comfort of her privileged life and given an opportunity to explore the darker shores of California. With help from her older sister with a mysterious past, the rotten apple of her future brother in law’s younger brother and his disowned delinquent girlfriend, Adrienne’s shown a life she’s never seen before. When Eli Dunn swaggers into her life in only his boxer briefs, Adrienne doesn’t know whether to hit him with her bottle of detergent or stay and see what happens. Her life suddenly changes and Eli is to blame for all of the mistakes she’s about to make. Leading a double life is no easy task and when it all comes to light, Adrienne must decide which lifestyle she wants to live. There in those city lights, there was no her and there was no him. There was just everything and nothing and the spaces in between, like flickering lights against a never-ending, black sky. There in those city lights, there was no love and there was no hate. There was just listening and talking and understanding every single thing, like the 'ready, stop, go' of car-chasers and dream-makers. There in those city lights, there was no sadness and there was no happiness. There was just candid smiles and wasted tears and bottom lips chewed off, like the overflowing boulevard of things unseen. There in those city lights, there was no lady and there was no man. There was just a boy and a girl, who promised to fall in love, not with each other, but in those city lights. #1 Teen Fiction | #1 Young Adult | #1 Romance "We all need someone to drive us mad." - The Wombats. He stared arrogantly down at me, a smirk plastered across his face. I sneered up at him with distaste, wanting to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle that smirk off of him. He brushed my golden hair from my face, his long, slender fingers sparking electricity in my skin, making my knees wobble together. "Will you ever, forgive me?" he whispered huskily, his eyes intently staring into mine. His face was only mere inches from me. I just needed to reach out a little further to kiss him... "Yeah. Over my dead body." I snapped, before throwing my arms out forcefully, shoving my hands into his chest, pushing him from me. -*-*-*- He, is Carter Williams. I, am Lacey Adams. We were once, inseparable. The 'Golden Couple'. The unbreakable best friends, that everybody envied. Nothing could get between us. A part from being tighter than white on rice, we updated our status from friends to being in a relationship, frequently. We were neighbours, which meant our families were all close and even co-owned houses around our town. This, all is, until the day of my sixteenth birthday. Everything changed. The loving relationship we shared, was severed and torn apart. I couldn't hardly stand to look at him any more, without spitting fire that is. Every day is torture being around him. He was in all my classes at school and the window in my room was even directly aligned with his. So, what happens? My mother's mum gets sick, so dad and her fly out. Just them. Leaving me to stay with Carter and his parents, who are never home. We would be alone. In one house. Under the same roof. If I was insane before, I have no idea what I am now. © 2016 by LaurenJ22.
