Le présent récit est une fiction développée dans le contexte et l'univers de « The Walking Dead » (comics, séries TV, romans et jeux vidéo) imaginés par Robert Kirkman. Je l'ai rédigé avant tout par plaisir personnel, découvrant moi-même l'histoire au fil des pages. Le récit ne reprend aucun personnage ou fait des supports originaux. Il se concentre sur d'autres survivants dont les noms, apparences, histoires personnelles et actions sont entièrement fictifs. Cependant, les noms des villes et des états, et de manière générale les informations géographiques, climatiques ou culturelles sont tout à fait réels, afin d'ancrer le récit dans un cadre réaliste et vraisemblable. Car, au-delà du récit basé sur une apocalypse zombie, « The Walking Dead » est également, en mon sens, un voyage à travers les terres et la culture typique des États-Unis.
