During the war between Autobots and Decepticons, Soundwave fell in love with someone and decided to have a sparkling with her. But Megatron wanted her and the sparkling to not function, so he killed her. Though he never realized that the sparkling, which Soundwave named "Echowave," was online and with his sire. Despite what has happened, Soundwave is still loyal to his master, but will do anything to save his precious Echowave. Even if it means having to disobey his master.
