What do you do when the person you love doesn't want to be saved?
That was the question Engfa Waraha had been asking herself since the day she realized Charlotte Austin wasn't just someone who came to the café at 10:15 every morning.
Yes, she knew everything about Charlotte in the way someone memorizes their favorite song. The things she ordered. The way she spoke. The little expressions that appeared on her face without her noticing. Things no one else seemed to pay attention to.
Engfa had spent years living behind other people's faces.
Thirty times, she created a new identity, entered someone else's world and took whatever she needed before they realized something was missing from them. Money, information, secrets and access. She learned exactly how much of herself to reveal to make people believe what they wanted to believe.
Then she came home to Thailand.
To the country she left when she was eighteen.
She wanted nothing more than to live an ordinary life. Using her real name. No more cons. Thirty was enough. She found an ordinary job, made real friends and built the life she'd always wanted. Everything was exactly where she wanted it to be.
Until Charlotte.
Charlotte was the one person Engfa couldn't read.
Curiosity turned into fascination. Fascination turned into something she couldn't control. Soon, Engfa found herself entranced by Charlotte, unable to stop trying to make her see her.
But Charlotte's life was complicated. Her world was built on betrayal, loyalty, and obligation, surrounded by a society where influence and silence moved as easily as other people moved through ordinary life.
And when one event pulled Engfa into Charlotte's world, she could no longer pretend that thirty cons were enough to keep her away.
Because this time, Engfa wasn't trying to take anything.
She was trying to stay.
