Eugenia Holcombe is the daughter of a Templar, and she hates their way. She runs away at the age of 18, and has lived under threat since. In 1868, Genie discovers the dead body of an old friend of hers. The borough of Lambeth has always been a dangerous place, but now Genie is now more at risk than ever. Jacob Frye is trying to conquer the territory for the Rooks and the Brotherhood, and is distrustful of everyone, but something draws him to her; perhaps a simple morbid curiosity, or something more substantial.
