Pelle let the back of his head rest against the door and opened his mouth to speak, but no words could form. Instead, he choked back sobs, scared she would hear them from the other side of the door, where she sat. Dead tried to take a deep breath but at this point, he didn't know if the air around him was real. Pressing his palms against the cool floor, blood dripped from his wounds and pooled around him.
