Nondespair AU Saihara Shuichi, a smart 17 year old boy who is an aspiring detective, has struggled with anxiety and depression for years, anxiety was diagnosed at age 7 while depression was recently diagnosed 2 years ago. He is kept up all night by his mind's "what if"s and "imagine"s. He uses that time to either study or draw, that way his grades don't plummet as he doesn't want anyone to worry about him. Drawing may seem useless, but to him its an outlet for expression and creativity, plus he could use it to make portrait guesses in future crime cases. Saihara's life is normal and boring as always until his classmate, Kirumi Tojo, and her family end up fostering and possibly adopting a child the same age as the both of them.
