RAMAYAN Whenever we hear the name of the greatest epic of the Indian history, a few things come in our mind. Sita's wait for her husband, Shri Ram's love for his wife, Laxman's duty and love towards his brother and sister in law, kaikeyi's curse, kaushalya's years of wait, Maharaj Dhashrath's pain, Urmila's sacrifice, Mandavi's and Shrutkirti's silent tears, bharat's agony, Shatrughan's helplessness, Sumitra's order to her son, Hanuman's devotion, Vibhishan's righteousness, Ravan's evilness and plight of the people of Ayodhya. There are many other things that also come in mind. But something that never crosses our mind is there was a flame of righteousness burning in the dark evil palace of Lanka. There was a woman who was loved by Ravan but who failed to erase the evilness. The woman who's chastity and purity got her a place as the panchkanya - The women who destroy sins. She, who lost her husband, sons, brother in laws, family and people. She, who always stood by her husband. She, who for her people and kingdom, sacrificed and remarried her brother in law to save her kingdom. She, the forgotten queen of Lanka. Mandodari, The Bygone Empress. Plagiarism is not appreciated. Her complexion as dark as a blue lotus, Her eyes as wide as lotus petals, Her hair swaying like a dancing snake, Her serene smile wooing the most handsome of men in the land of Āryāvarta. --- "She wasn't quite ready. But she was brave. And it is an eternal thing, that the Universe always favors the brave." --- Mahābhārata- world's longest poem, with thousands of verses. Out of which only one verse dedicated to Karenumati, which states; She was the Princess of Chedi, Daughter of Shishupala, Wife of Nakula, Mother of Niramitra. But it doesn't tell who she was! --- "There were countless times that she was overshadowed by time, but she shines. Among the thousands of princesses that have come and go, she shines, and shines alone, like a star." *** A work based on the great epic Mahābhārata. A few fictional parts will be added but will stay in limit. I do not intend to hurt any religious sentiments. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Note: The word virago means a war like woman!

Mahabharata, the largest epic of India, is a treasure for every Indian in its political, moral and spiritual values. The characters and their ups and downs in life, leading to the fatal war of Kurukshetra still draws our interest to know even more about them. But within all these restlessness, battles and conflicts, we somehow tend to forget few small yet delicate moments which must have taken place in Dwapara yuga but were not penned by Maharishi Vyasa. Have we ever thought of how the loving Pandava family of Indraprastha would have celebrated one of its member's birthday? Situations did change in their lives from happy to sad, yet those moments did come every year. How would have been their celebrations when they were reunited after the thirteen years of exile? How did the children feel for their parents? What would have been a Princess's reaction while garlanding the man of her dream in her swayamvara? What had Yudhishthira felt during exile, repenting for his mistake of a short while? How was the love-filled journey of the great five heroes and their heroine, since yugas and kalpas? This book is a collection of short stories that capture such forgotten, non-recorded moments from the great epic. With these small flowers of their immortal tales I present my offering to the noble characters of Mahabharata. Cover credit: @_justloveharry_33

The great Hittite general, Hattusili, offers his daughter, the young princess Malawashina, as a bride for Pharaoh to seal their treaty once and for all. But is the treaty the only reason he chooses to send his most precious daughter away from their homeland, away from his heart? How will life fare for her in the distant land of Egypt, where she will ultimately be sent into the clutches of Pharaoh's harem?
