She was the only one who knew that Sara and Oliver were seeing each other behind Laurel's back. Before the whole yacht accident, Kara and Tommy got into a huge argument about college and Oliver, Sara had asked if she wanted to join her with Oliver and his father to China for an escape from her brother and Laurel. The next thing Kara knows is that she's being rescued by some ninjas called themselves the League of Assassins. She doesn't come back until after the Undertaking that took her brother's life and sees her friends and Oliver again. Her return causes some bumps on the road, with Laurel blaming for knowing about Oliver and Sara sleeping together, and Oliver still not over the fact that she is still alive and didn't tell anyone about her whereabouts. Oliver finds out that she is a part of the League of Assassins and is trying to leave all that behind, but you can't exactly leave without them dying, or they are hunted and returned alive or dead. Oliver and Kara connected emotionally, and it caused feelings to emerge that Laurel didn't like when she arrived at dinner with her ex-boyfriend.

Kara was still having mixed feelings about Earth-38 because of everything that Alex and J'onn did, but she agreed to visit with Oliver and the kids so that Tommy could meet his Grandma and her biological mother too. They know that there will be more dangers to come, and they will ensure that their cities are safe from those types of threats.
