Population levels have reached critical, forcing the government to step in. A new system is built - an assigned mate for 16-year-olds, one child per family, all done with a computer algorithm. Careers are determined by what job is needed and best suited for. Any deviation and they face the risk of becoming a Lower--the unwanted dregs of society. Or sometimes something far worse. Rebecca hates the system. She's paired with a cookie-cutter human called Jake, sees her dream job given away to a liar, and is forced to work in endless code as a programmer. Nothing is what she would choose for herself. When she and a boy with many secrets, Scott, discover a flaw in the system, they realize they can change everything. Jake could be with his real love. Rebecca could follow her dream of writing. Society can be turned on its head with the sweep of a keystroke. If they're caught, they face a fate far worse than becoming a Lower. (The written version of Studio Ghibli's The Castle in the Sky) *all characters and most content belong to Studio Ghibli. I just put their magnificent movie into words* The body, a girl it seemed, floated down right in front of Pazu, and he held out his arms. She barely touched his hands, merely hovering in place, until slowly, the blue light of her pendant slowly went out. Gravity returned to normal and the girl fell. Pazu (pot-sue) is just a normal 15 year old boy. He goes in and out of town. He works at the mining Co. But, he's an orphan. Just like Sheeta. Sheeta. The second Pazu saw her fall from the sky he knew he was in love. If only he knew where she came from.... And why. Laputa is a myth. A magical floating castle in the sky. Everyone knows it's a myth. Except for Pazu and Sheeta. Join them on a magical journey of fear, adventure and love.

After an apocalyptic event that thrusts the world into a new ice age, Calestia - a 17-year-old girl with a strong will - must learn to survive on a land infested with gangs, guns, and distrust. ***** Nobody knows what day it is anymore. Nobody knows the month, the day of the week...and the only way to tell time is by the slight change in the color of the sky from grey to black every twenty-four hours. If a day even is twenty-four hours anymore. The planet is dead. The people are dead. Snow falls down upon piles of bodies like the ash of a volcanic eruption. Except, the snow doesn't stop. It never does. It continues to fall and fall until you wonder if it is even possible for another flake to come down and land silently in your hair. But it does. They do. There are few survivors of what the remaining have started to call the end of the world. The Apocalypse. Few who are still brave or scared of death enough to face the torture that is living. I am one of those survivors. Book One of the Snow Series Highest ranking: #3 in Sci-Fi Watty's Shortlisted
