CONTENT WARNING: This book contains visceral depictions of gore and detailed descriptions of mental illness and its effects. Vulpinus is a story of a world built on the remnants of another. It's a story of characters as human as humans can be, solving mysteries behind the foundations of their ways of life - and threats to those ways of life. With the discovery of a large stone object at the bottom of a mine, the lives of everyone in the world of Li'ran are in danger, and they will all have to work together to stop what is coming - but between rising tensions and the perils of nature, they might not come home from their journey. Remember, though; like any journey, even reading has its own perils, and you might not come out the same person you went in.

Imprisoned, manipulated, weapons in progress. What would it be like to kill every creature you laid eyes upon? Having the ability to reduce a being before you to a crumbled corpse in a breath's worth of time? And what might a person do with an army of such weapons? Well, they are not like guns and knives with a free will and unbound limbs, these are dangerous people held back like puppets tethered to one hand in entire control, then left caught in a horrific dance in which they cannot break from. But what happens when someone is a puppet for too long? What do they do when they can no longer withstand being tugged by the strings, and having words echo from their unwilling lips? For some, the answer is to distance their mind from a body that used to be theirs. For others, it is to cut the ties clean off and disappear. As for Rose Lowery, she is not only bound by slackened strings, but she is also cast aside to watch others become victims to the actions controlled by those in power. Ask yourself, what does a marionette do when they are put in front of a pair of scissors? Does it truly snip itself free and leave unnoticed? Heavens, no. It loosens itself just enough to get its strings around the throat of its maker. *Note: The photographs themselves are not mine, therefore all credit goes to the original photographers (I couldn't find them by name)

The wise, the prim, the kind, the oblivious, and the reckless: they're ingredients for a disaster and the greatest of friends. Trust is what binds these people together. Fear is was rips them apart. But sometimes these bonds are best severed when there is a serial killer in the picture. Though on the other hand, shouldn't the ones most entrusted be the ones held the closest? That cannot always be the case. In Rochegrise, France, the Beaumont House is home to (you've guessed it) the Beaumont family, but even more so Caroline's closest friends and chosen family. Since day one of the killings, it is evident that the killer was someone in this peaceful town, the home of beloved, familiar lives. Perhaps it was a neighbor, a passerby, or someone living in that very house. That's the funny thing about fear. It douses all of those it touches in a paranoia capable of singeing the bonds of trust down to nothing at all. And Caroline Beaumont is falling down, down, down. Bonds disappearing from beneath her. What better group to be entangled in a string of murders than the one tearing apart at the seams?

Siderion is mere minutes away from becoming a member of the Order and earning his first rank stripe when Serkha City is attacked and his life is changed forever. Thrown away from everything he holds dear, he must scramble for answers as his moral ground shifts under his feet. In a world full of mages and monsters, nothing is safe. - - - - - - - - There were lots of other mages gathered in the plaza, addressing the arkaetres they had ridden with curt nods or short dialogue. The doors to the building were big enough for even the largest dragon to enter, but still only a small imperfection in the huge structure. I knew the door was the size of a dragon because I could see one to compare it to, flying above the dome. Then I realized that the dragon was black. "Dad? Look up there." He looked up and cocked his head in confusion. "I've never seen anything like that before." The beast was quite high in the sky and didn't look particularly threatening, but it still spooked me to see an arkaetre that wasn't white. After watching the shadowy dragon for a few more moments, my dad said slowly, "It seems like they have no rider. We should probably tell the Council about this." I nodded and followed him inside the dome. "But what about the opening ceremony?" I asked nervously, looking down at my watch. "We've got some time." - - - - - - - - Remember to comment and vote for the chapters you enjoy! Any and all feedback is appreciated. 🎸 Original Soundtrack 🎺 A small mep named Velda, orphaned since birth, is waiting for her life to change. She meets Cha, a spirit being, who reveals that she is destined to save the universe with the help of a magical Powerstone. Velda is found by the royal family on her planet and joins seven other teens with similar beginnings. But, as they begin their training on the path to mastery of magic, something goes wrong... - - - - - - - - Velda reached into her pocket and pulled out the emerald and ring. It was a lot to take in, and Cha knew that she knew it. She looked back at Cha. "What if I can't do it?" "The fates decided that you would be here when I came to the material realm. You are the one we chose, and you are meant to have this Powerstone." Velda looked down at the emerald, which was still glowing faintly. "Could it hurt me?" "This is a first for me as well. I am not certain. I apologize if the transformation is harsh, but I think you will make it through fine." "What transformation?" "Well, it is hard to say what it will be." Velda stared at the stone, and after a while could see her reflection in it, stained green by the shine it was surrounded in. How could she trust herself to take on a task like this? She couldn't imagine being able to protect anything. - - - - - - - - Read the first novel on Wattpad with an original embedded soundtrack!
