Crystal and Eddie were bestie friends in middle school. After their falling out they lost touch until her junior year when Mike and Dustin begged her to play for Lucas. When they reconnected he realized how much she has changed and how they work better then they did before. Even though she was best friends with a band nerd and someone who would bully Eddie before he graduated, they worked out.
