The attack on the Shiganshina District still happened, Eren wasn't affected by it but Mikasa & Armin were. Reiner helped with the attack, Bertolt did to like the ORG AU. (Eren wasn't a solider at the time of this happening so he can't say it was his fault or anything, all he knows is was Reiner told him.) All 4 of them (Reiner, Bertolt, Annie & Eren) joined the Training Corps. That's where the "love" aspect comes in, Eren caught feels for Reiner after seeing how strong he was in person, It's not so much as love in the beginning more than it is admiration for his power, later on it soon turns into love, and more importantly lust.
