It was in the year 2047 when The Invasion began. After escaping from a labor camp occupied by the Chinese, Summer finds herself roaming the Rocky Mountains with her small family and a dangerous stranger named Bridger. Summer wields two axes as she vies to protect her family from the dangers of starvation and attack from others, yet a burden of shame eats away at her, since no one else knows of Bridger's threats if she refuses to sleep with him.
However, all of that is about to change when they come across another band of survivors who are connected to Summer's past. One of the men in the group is her former professor, the other, her unspoken desire, Julian.
As they search for an elusive group known as the Caravan, Summer must fight to stay alive while wrestling with Bridger's demands and the forbidden feelings she still harbors for Julian.
Note: The purpose of my book is about empowerment and healing for abuse because I think it's important that people talk about that so they can protect themselves. In the book, I've really tried to avoid too much detail, while still conveying what is going on. There isn't any graphic detail, but it's implied.
