The 226th Soul
How do you grieve for a love you no longer remember, watched over by a Goddess who cannot speak her own?
For Sethu, the Eternal Return is a cycle of ghosts. He is the living graveyard for the 225 friends he couldn't save, a man branded by survival and hollowed out by grief. He thought he could endure the weight of the fallen as long as he had Tituba-the unspoken light in his dark world, and the woman he loved with a confession he never had the chance to whisper.
But when Tituba becomes the 226th soul to slip into the gray, Sethu finally snaps.
In the sixty-second sanctuary of the afterlife, he faces Lady Death. Hidden behind her dark, impenetrable veil, the Goddess watches the man she has claimed 225 times finally shatter. She is no mere harvester; she is a lover bound by silence, harboring a devotion for Sethu that she can never voice. To speak would be to claim him forever, and to stay silent is to watch him break.
As the "snap" takes hold, the world of the living pulls Sethu back, but he returns empty. The faces of the 225 have dissolved into mist. The memory of Tituba's smile has vanished. He wakes up with a hole in his chest where her name used to be, haunted by the lingering scent of a Goddess who loves him from behind a veil he can never cross.
Sethu is searching for a woman he has forgotten, while the woman who cannot forget him watches from the shadows of the end.
