The rebels lost the rebellion 24 years ago, and the hunger games continues. This year there will be three games, one with all boy tributes, one with all girl tributes. Twenty-four will be reaped, in each of the two first games, and twelve will die. Leaving the final twelve from each games battle in the ultimate hunger games, only one will survive who will it be? Like the 2nd quarter quell there will be twice as many tributes. Half one girl and one boy from each district. The other half, one girl and one boy from each district revived from the dead tributes of previous years. The dead tributes are reaped and pulled out of their slumber. Fern lives with her Aunt in district 7 living as average of a life you can in the districts. When Fern gets reaped there's no hope, or so she thinks. With a naive woman as her escort, a drunk and an optimist as her mentors, and a mysterious boy as a partner, things don't prove themselves to be easy, but with nothing to lose she would do whatever it's necessary to survive. This story is what might have happened if Katniss failed the rebellion and the games continue, the conditions of the games become harsher to show people that they shall not ever attempt a rebellion again. This book follows the point of view of Diamond, the District 1 Tribute who is reaped for the 100th Hunger Games. This particular quarter quell caught the attention of many due to its astonishing condition, Diamond has been training since the age of 8 to use a weapon and prepare for if he ever gets chosen. Though every one sees him as a spoiled conceited brat due to his mother being wealthy and does what ever she can to make sure Diamond is happy, he is quite opposite. Diamond is a Kind, Gentle and fragile person who is also anti-social which make him come off as conceited. Diamond struggles to find a place to fit in but is to shy to confront anyone, plus the pressure of having to team up with the careers does not help him very much.
