    Shirley Martin was brought up in Southern Philadelphia by her mother, Anne, and father, Leroy. She was the youngest of 6 kids along with her twin brother, Eddie. And with all of her siblings being brothers, she was a born fighter. Her brothers had her join in all of their wrestling matches and taught her how to used hand-to-hand combat. They also brought her with on their many hunting trips and introduced her to different types of firearms. When the war broke out in the Pacific, many of her brothers had left to join the War. She hadn't been informed much about the situation in both the Pacific and in Europe until 1942 when it had been brought more the newspaper. Soon after, she decided to enlist in the Army, much to her parents disliking, and after visiting with Colonel Sink, she was accepted into the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne and was put into 2nd Battalion. This was going to be one hell of a ride. Fem oc/BoB character

    Ellie Carlton was sitting on the balcony watching the cars pass by below her and humming along to the tunes playing on the radio gently, while swaying to the sound of Frank Sinatra. When a speech came on the radio, It was president Roosevelt addressing the nation, "Yesterday, December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan," and from that day she knew she needed to fight for her country. She became a combat medic. This is her story.
