When you are born, you are given a mark on your right collarbone to symbolize your social status and what your job will be when your older. Some people wear their mark as a charm or trophy, while others try to hide them and make sure no one can see them. Some even wear their's as a weapon...There is 13th marks, and as you can tell, number 13 isn't so lucky. Each mark has a specific name, and only the Shadows know the names of these marks. When you are born, you are taken to the Shadows to be given your mark. As they give you your mark, they whisper the name. Only the special ones remember the names of their marks and Hazel Brooks is one of them. But here's the problem... her mark is lucky number thirteen.
