    Edmund Westworth (26), the third Earl of Beaumont, and the most eligible bachelor in London, unknowingly started a tradition he now regrets. At age twenty-two he danced the first dance at the season opening ball at Almack's with a young lady who became the toast of the season. The next year he did the same. Every year since, he has danced one dance, to fulfill his mother's requirement. And every year his dance partner becomes the most sought after girl of the season. Some think he has a gift, Edmund thinks he could pick any girl and 'the ton' would deem her desirable based on his dance alone. His friends disagree and bet him 100£ to choose a dance partner who couldn't possibly entice the gentlemen of London. When her father suddenly passes away, Elizabeth Cavendish (20) has to move in with her aunt's family. With the estate entailed, Elizabeth needs to find a husband quickly or her aunt will install her into a governess or lady's companion position, which would severely hinder Beth's ability to work on her scientific experiments. Garbed in her cousin's horrific dresses from last season, she only has a few weeks to find a husband before she is doomed to tedious work for the rest of her life. She finds an unlikely accomplice in the Earl of Beaumont. Please don't copy any part of my story in any form (including Youtube) without my permission. I do not own any of the pictures, they are clipped from the internet. I read all comments. And appreciate your suggestions and/or corrections.

    she was a scattered palette filled with every colour and he was the calm painter who envisioned the whole world through her on his canvas. A tale set in the late 1800s, India when feminism was a taboo while patriarchy and misogyny was a norm. Labanya, an eight year old girl who was a little too curious for her age and gender was tied to Rudrajit, an eleven year old boy who was a bit too composed and soft for his age and gender by the sacred bond of marriage. What would this marriage bring about in the lives of these young souls who were yet to discover their own selves? N.B - This story revolves not only around the romance between the two main character but also focuses on the important aspects and lessons that one could learn from this story by living through the characters and their mindsets while also getting to know about the very different environment of those time. I do not intend to impersonate or resemble any real personalities through my story as it's purely my imagination. Mention of real places and a few historic personalities are there just to add depth to the story and make it realistic.

    In November 1820, in the lonely vastness of the Pacific, the American whaleship Essex was struck and sunk by a massive sperm whale-a real event that later helped inspire Moby-Dick. History records the ship, the impact, and the long months of starvation that followed. This story asks a darker question: What if the sea struck back on purpose? On a stinking, worn-out whaleship far from land, sailors grumble about bad luck, dwindling kills, and the ache of too many months without shore or women. They joke, they tell ghost stories, and they pretend not to notice the way the ocean seems to be watching them. Beneath the surface, something watches. It has watched for a long time. Playing at the edges of pods, listening to the slow grammar of the deep, learning which hungers are necessary and which are not. The old rhythms of predator and prey make a kind of sense, until one day they don't. Far below the creaking hull of the Essex, another presence moves through the blue: vast, scarred, and not as unknowing as men like to believe. Between what swims above and what swims below, a quiet reckoning begins. Omens mount-sounds in the timbers no one can name, absences no one can explain, and a growing suspicion among the crew that they are not simply crossing the sea, but intruding on something that was never theirs. Based on the true fate of the Essex, The Siren Song of the Essex is a dark sea-myth about cruelty and recompense, about what the ocean remembers, and how it decides, in its own time and language, what is owed.

    Lucrezia Vinicio's life had been a delicate balancing act, literally and figuratively. As the daughter of a wealthy politician, she'd spent years perfecting the art of walking with an otherworldly grace, a book balanced precariously on her head, all to meet her father's impossibly high expectations. The pressure had taken its toll, leaving her scarred and guarded, her heart armored against the world. But it was the announcement of her arranged marriage that finally cracked open the door to her future. Her father's political ambitions had always come first, and now he needed her to seal an alliance with a powerful family. Lucrezia's thoughts swirled with uncertainty as she contemplated the stranger she'd be bound to - would he see her as more than just a pawn in his game of power, or might he actually cherish her, thorns and all? The prospect of marriage was both suffocating and tantalizing, a chance to escape her father's grasp but also a leap into the unknown.

    --- When Eleanor Hawthorne returns from Paris, she expects frosty dinners, tense family silences, and perhaps the occasional passive-aggressive comment from her eldest brother. What she doesn't expect is for their powerful and enigmatic father to vanish without a trace. While her brother insists on doing things "properly"-meaning slowly, ineffectively, and with all the imagination of a brick-Eleanor takes matters into her own hands. Unfortunately, she's not alone. Sherlock Holmes, called in behind her back, arrives with his insufferable charm, unbearable deductions, and a maddening habit of always being *just* a step ahead. Thrown together in a reluctant alliance, Eleanor and Holmes clash through drawing rooms, solicitor offices, and the grimiest corners of London society in search of answers. Their only clues? A missing man, a name no one wants to speak, and a trail of secrets that everyone seems desperate to keep buried. This is personal. And Eleanor Hawthorne is not the type to sit quietly and sew while men make all the decisions. ---

    The year is 1879. When thirteen-year-old Ruth Merritt Holbrook emerges from her family's burning estate, bloody and charred, but entirely numb--She makes headlines. Reporters believe she is deranged. They accuse her of having set the fire. All the headlines read: "UNSUSPECTING FAMILY SLAIN BY DERANGED DAUGHTER." Everyone believes it. How else could a highbred girl exit a burning building, injured yet senseless? Why did she not scream or cry? The police tell her she is a killer. The doctors tell her she is mad. The nuns at St. Agatha's tell her she is possessed. Perhaps, Ruth Merritt Holbrook is all of those things-or perhaps she is much more. Mysterious and Paranormal. Romance. More than meets the eye. ******* Sgt. Barton Rucklesbee September 13, 1882 The following is an account sent to our office on the first of this month. The whereabouts of those listed in this document are currently unknown. Case Notes: Personally, I don't believe a word of this. It seems like a child's story to me. Best not to be taken too seriously. Read at your own folly as it is quite the elaborate tale and you may find yourself wasting the entirety of a day on it. Sgt. Barton Rucklesbee ******* Senseless: The Unnatural Case Of Miss Merritt Holbrook ******* Author's note: This is a novel I wrote for my undergraduate thesis. I studied the Victorian era/ genre and wrote a novel in the styles of "Dracula" and Leanna Renee Hieber's "Darker Still." There are a lot of sections but they are all fairly short. Also, it may not be perfectly edited. To the wonderful grammar wizards out there, don't worry about it. Just sit back and enjoy the story and characters, I'll deal with the grammar later. Thanks for reading! Enjoy. :) First Posted: August 31, 2018 {On the Wattpad featured list 9/20/18}

    It's 1863 - the Civil War: Ivy Bradley is a nineteen-year-old volunteer nurse for the Union Army who happens to also be an artist, who's not so good with words. Her skill in both treatment and with a pencil has drawn her closer to the 54th Massachusetts Regiment Infantry, and mysteriously, and romantically, to Colonel Robert Gould Shaw. - - not entirely historically accurate - follows Glory (1989) and the characters as portrayed in the film.
