Washington State 1880: Liam McCallum (28) is exhausted. After his wife's death, he's single-handedly raising his two children and running their farm. Ida Champion has come to live with her aunt and uncle and their 5 children after the death of her mother. Her father is busy running a paper in Sydney and has not enough time to devote to his daughter. Ida is an independent, modern woman in the 1880's but everybody around her thinks she has to get married. She wants to study journalism and help run the local paper with her uncle. Adam Holland has half the girls in town vying for his attention but he just wants to finish his medical degree and enjoy life. Ida and Adam band together and pretend to fall in love and get engaged to get their families off their back. What started out as means to an end might actually turn out to be true love!
