In our world there is magic. Some people believe and embrace that power. Others fear it. Some, don't believe in it but, no matter what it is still there. This story is a mesmerizing story of love created or maybe destroyed by magic.

Bell bottoms, rotary phones, cigarettes; that's the life of the class of '72 at Braeburn Academy. As the sudden death of a beloved teacher shakes the town, his replacement begins to cause a stir among the other staff and students. A seeming affair between him and one of his students emerges through the cracks. Once the news breaks, there's no going back. Every town has its secrets, and every secret includes a little death.

The year is 1972. Widowed Christina Parr, her daughter Morgan, and her brother-in-law Jeremy have returned to the remote northern Ontario mining town of Parr's Landing, the place from which Christina fled before Morgan was born, seeking refuge. Dr, Billy Lighting has also returned in search of answers to the mystery of his father's brutal murder.
