Maya, the genius behind all their technology who fled Brazil in the 80s to get away from a transphobic past. Ella, a fierce and independent young woman who's best friends with Alfie, the young British time traveler who wound up in the middle of this mess from his perfect on the outside (but not on the inside) life in 2019. Then there's Chi, the recluse writer who gets dragged in by Alfie. Add some grunge concerts, abusive boyfriends, prank wars, religious cults, repressed feelings, gay emo strangers with beautiful long hair, and lots and lots of puns, and you have the story of the Spiky Lesbians.
