"Josh?" Tyler's voice sounds scratchy. "You okay?"
He knows that I only call him in the middle of the night when things are definitely not okay.
"Do you have the number of the police?" My voice cracks, and a sob slips out.
I hear a rustle of sheets on the other end and Jenna's voice, but I can't make out what she says.
"Can you find the emergency number?" Tyler's muffled voice says, probably directed towards Jenna. I feel terrible for waking them up.
"I'm-" I start.
"Don't, Josh. Talk to me." He sounds more awake now.
"It's Jae." another sob.
"Oh no." he whispers.
I look over at the girl I bought a ring for today. Laying on the bed, not moving.
"Josh. I'm coming over." I hear him unlock and open his hotel door, then he hangs up. A few seconds later, he knocks on our door. I jump up and rush to open it.
"I don't know how it happened. I couldn't feel it. It's like her body had no resistance."
"How long do you think?"
"I don't know." I can't stop the tears from coming. "I really don't know."
Jenna bursts in and tells us that the ambulance is headed out. She see Jae and stops.
"Oh, no." she walks over to her. "No, no, no, no, no."
I can't take it anymore. If I loose her, I-
I don't know what will happen. I collapse onto the couch and bury my face in my arms. I feel Tyler sit down next to me. He puts an arm around my shoulders.
"She's gonna be okay, Josh." he assures me.
I can't know what will happen.
