Four pre-teens by the names of Nikki, cam, Alex, and peg, (for short) set off into the night after there mom goes mad worrying about things. And without a dad to help take care of their four younger siblings they think they can do it themselves. (Idiots). At midnight, they set out in the woods to get a special sap to try and help there mom but end up finding something they've never seen before. mankind is sun, and rules by the light nightlings are moon, and rule in the night; or; there will be war.
