Waves crash violently. Olivia is limp, sinking fast-unable to fight the current. Edward and James burst through the surf, breath ragged.
James: "SHE'S GONE UNDER! EDWARD-HURRY!"
Edward: "I SEE HER! THE RIP CURRENT'S TOO STRONG!"
(Edward dives deep, water churning, grabbing her lifeless body just as she slips away.)
James: "FIGHT THE SURF-IT'S PULLING HER BACK!"
Edward: "SHE'S DEAD WEIGHT! SHE WON'T WAKE UP!"
(They crash onto the shore. Edward slams down on his knees-no pulse, no breath. He's wild with panic.)
Edward: "NO-NO! WAKE UP! BREATHE!"
(He slams her chest hard, frantic, desperate-no rhythm, just pure terror.)
James: "EDWARD-CALM DOWN! YOU'RE GOING TOO FAST!"
Edward: "SHE'S FREEZING! THERE'S NOTHING! SHE'S NOT BREATHING AT ALL!"
(He tilts her head, gasps, presses again-hands shaking uncontrollably.)
Edward: "DON'T YOU DARE DIE HERE! NOT LIKE THIS!"
James: "KEEP GOING! DON'T STOP-SHE'S STILL WITH US!"
Edward: "COME BACK-GOD, COME BACK!"
(A ragged, choking gasp tears from her throat. Water gushes out.)
Edward: "SHE'S INHALING-SHE'S ALIVE!"
