40s when Bucky and Steve make it back from WWII. Buckyxreader. This fic's kinda based on the song The one that got away by Katy Perry. I do not own the marvel characters. There are references (quotes) from F. Scott Fitzgerald and maybe other authors which I'll leave in bold. Let me know if there's a mistake, in the comments.

Jane Agnes 'Nancy' Rogers is the older sister of the famous Captain America, Steve Rogers and is also a good friend to Sargent James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes but had a secret crush on him. She works as an agent for the SSR along with her best friend Margret 'Peggy' Carter and is part of Project Rebirth and the creation of the Super Soldier army. Steve wants more than anything to fight in the Second World War but due to his frail appearance, he was not allowed no matter how many times he tried. Even though Nancy didn't want her brother to be put in dangerous situations she understood that he wanted to join, so she talked to Dr Eriskine to have Steve be the first person to take the Super Soldier Serum and he agreed. Getting a chance to join the army Steve became the Star-Spangled Man: Captain America and helped so many lives and made the people who loved him proud, especially Nancy and Bucky. But in the shadows, HYDRA plans to use a mysterious device of untold powers for world domination.

Steve always manages to find a fight no matter where he goes and Bucky is always ready to defend his best friend, until one day someone beats him to it. Bucky isn't prepared to find you standing up for his best friend and he definitely wasn't prepared to be so swept up by you. But most of all, he didn't expect you to have such an important place in his future.

It was supposed to be an another mission of the resistance among all the others during the occupation nazi of my country. But apparently i didn't planned any of it. But how was i supposed to know that i was going to save an american allies from the death, and even less to fall in love with him. But, In 1931, Maxine had to move out of Brooklyn with her father to go back to England, to help out her extended family during the Great Slump(look it up).
