Being a light in the world can be hard. People can be aggressive, cold, and uncaring. These people seem distant, and sometimes, a completely different species than the rest of us. It is far too easy to forget that the people who treat others with disrespect and cruelty are people too. Even though these people's actions are wrong, that does not mean that they deserve less than another. It's easy to show kindness to the person being oppressed, but could you show the same kindness to the oppressor?
