After the death of her sister, JoAnna Miller is forced to battle the five stages of grief and pushes away everyone that's ever cared about her. Her mother has fallen away and now drinks her sorrow, one bottle at a time. Her father has buried himself in work. Neither one are there to help.
Her best friend, Lily Montgomery, has tried to do what she can to help her but nothing seems to be working. Everything she says seems to be the wrong thing. Every touch of comfort goes sour. Soon, after some hateful words spoken between the two of them, Lily walks away, vowing to never come back.
