But even then, the world had a tendency of being especially cruel to her. Losing her older sister to the games, her best friend getting reaped, and a new but kind friend also getting reaped soon after. So what happens when she volunteers for her best friend's little sister for the 74th annual Hunger Games and is sent into the arena with a twelve-year-old boy she had grown to see as a little brother. We all know what happens in The Hunger Games- Katniss volentueers for Prim and has to deal with Peeta, sad story, but what if Gale volentueerd for Peeta just to make sure Katniss survived the games? What would happen? Who would win?

Clove has been training for one thing her entire life- winning the Hunger Games. She is the best knife thrower the training academy has ever seen and is obviously going into the games at some point. She just HAS to win the games, to prove herself to her dad. But at the end, will she want too? Cato has never been loved by his parents. They don't care that he trains harder than anyone else at the training center, or that he is the strongest in his grade. The only family member he loves is his little sister, and he'll do anything to protect her. He has to avenge his brother and make a better life for his sister, and the only way he can do that is win the games. Clove and Cato have never liked each other, but when its obvious they are the best candidates for tributes, they are forced to work and train together, and maybe learn a little too much about each other. Can they both make it out alive?

How my Dad's passing affected me

Cato x Reader Listen, there will be some significant changes from the original HG books (obviously, otherwise, this would be boring). But this is still the 74th Hunger Games, The first significant change is you, Cato, and a few other vital tributes just turned 18. The beginning will seem a bit generic at first. However, if you try it and stick with it for the first few chapters, you may like it! I love the HG series but don't own any rights to the original story I decided to make this in a weird way; I want to bring a new perspective to the HG and those deemed as bad guys and that no one is good or bad IRL. Also, I wrote this because every Cato x Reader I read was making me want to gouge my eyes out like no way they could just fall in love so fast, and he quickly simps WE LOVE A GOOD SLOWBURN ROMANCE !!!

Cato is a typical District 2 boy. He can fight well, and he's strong. When he meets Clove, he doesn't know exactly what he feels. It's time for the reaping for the 74th annual Hunger Games. Clove's name is drawn. Cato's is as well. He doesn't want to kill Clove, but he knows one thing: it will make his family proud if he wins.

After 16 years of hell, Clove finally gets to prove her worth to her father, and everyone in District 2, that she's not as weak as she looks.

Cato and Clove come from District 2, a place well known for its luxuries and glory for the games. However, it is all that is seems or do Cato and Clove live in a place different to everyone's expectations?

She is courageous, adventurous, and determined. But above all, Clove is a fighter. What happened in the 74th Hunger Games according to Clove? We all know their names, and what they can do. But do we know their stories? How they changed from innocent kids to cold-blooded murderers, how they landed in the 74th Hunger Games, how they lost their lives.... This is their story.
