The winner of the 68th Hunger Games, Marilla Lutz, is being thrown back into the arena years later to participate in the Quarter Quell, where the remaining victors are reaped back into the games. While she, her former mentor (Finnick Odair), and the rest of the tributes train for the games, they learn of a plan to save the victors, if they agree to protect Katniss Everdeen, the Mockingjay. But when Mari spills a Capital secret, President Snow will do everything in his power to make sure she dies in the Games, and suffers while doing so. Unknowingly, she becomes a symbol of hope for the Districts and sparks rebellion. They call her The Mermaid. Even if she does live long enough to be rescued from the arena, she doesn't realize what the consequences will be if she makes it out alive. This sequel is to the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. This book is imagining how the story might have gone if President Snow had not seen Katniss and Peeta both making it out of the arena alive as an act of defiance. The story will take place the day of the reaping for the 75th Hunger Games and we will follow the story of some of the tributes through the Quarter Quell. This story switches between the point of view throughout different sections. We start off in Willow's point of view, who is a 13 year old girl living in District 12. There are also sections of the book where it is Katniss's point of view. At the top of each chapter it says whose point of view it is. Disclaimer: All characters are the creation of Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games except for some characters such as, Willow, JJ, Cole, Willows parents and all of the other tributes.
