This is the journal of a walk through writing an entire novel in a month, as it happens. This includes thoughts, tools, struggles, and planning strategies. I wrote 78,000 words for the novel in the month of November, 2014, and this is the journey of writing it. I wrote this journal at the same time as the novel, each day reporting on what I was struggling with as I wrote. At the end, I have included notes on my 2015 NaNoWriMo novel.

You are either classified as a Reject or Evolved. You have a gift or you have nothing. Humans went extinct so long ago it isn't even recorded in the history books anymore. We started off as Evolved, every being that was born obtained a gift early in their lives. Sometimes these gifts are extraordinary such as ability over an element, and sometimes they are more suited to everyday tasks such as the ability to speak and understand all languages. Each gift has its place in society and they are treasured above all. Then one day a pair of identical twins were born. Their anatomy, unseen to the eye, was different than the Evolved, more humanlike. As they grew they discovered they had no gift. There is something in their DNA that doesn't allow them to obtain a gift. They were given the name of Rejects and each one of their descendants was passed on with this classification, and lack of gift. Although we live in peace both Evolved and Rejects, they blame us. They blame all identical twins, and we are looked down upon for something that we could not prevent. My sister and I are Rejects, born from Evolved parents, but when I saved my sister from a near death experience a gift inside me was triggered. Society would call it a miracle, but we know what it could really mean. Death. Experimentation. Chaos. Our only option is to run and try to find a safe haven, because if we are discovered it will be our end.

We all knew this would happen. We polluted ourselves right off of Earth and into space. Our brightest minds built magnificent space colonies to provide sanctuary, but they might not last long enough for scientists to repair our planet. Enter humanity's "Plan B:" a pan galactic hunt for a new Earth using risky lightspeed technology. Atlas and his siblings become caught in the chaos- separated from their parents, from each other, and they will have to fight not to lose themselves.

I can't trust anyone. I don't know what I am going to do with my life. I can't feel anything else. What am I even doing here? "Get up you lazy idiot! The entrance ceremony is about to start!" My roommate shouted from across our 14x16 dorm room. "I'm not a lazy idiot, I'm just going through things," I muttered from my bed. "Yeah, you and literally everyone else going here. Now get up so we can go." She remarked. I almost replied 'Well, I'm not keeping you here', but I realized she's probably trying to be nice to me in the best way she knows how. I sighed and got up, putting on a t-shirt and jeans while despairingly wondering why I have to understand arrogant, rich people the best. Why can't I just make friends with a nice, normal girl? I think while brushing my teeth. Is that what I really want? I wish. I walk to the door, past my roommate who is looking in the mirror and fixing her makeup. "Let's go," I said. She turned around, looking me over and rolling her eyes. "The entrance ceremony is semi-formal." I gave her an exasperated look for not telling me earlier, and changed my shirt to a blouse, putting on a jeweled necklace in the process. Walking out, she was already eyeing my outfit. "Girl, you've got curves. All you'd need is to put on makeup, and you-" "I don't care, let's go." I shoot her a warning glare to stop openly judging me based on how I look. She shrugged, but looked like she understood, and we both left. I don't know if I will be friends with this girl, but at least we can communicate, I finally conclude. She started babbling on about how excited she was to meet our university's president because apparently he will demonstrate all his powers for us. I stopped listening after a minute or so. This will be a long year.

Strange events are unfolding in the household of Lord Leofric and Lady Amitis. Gossip runs rampant as loyalties are tested. Even the slaves, who are to act as though they are part of the stone buildings, are caught in the intrigue that soon overtakes the household. Lin is merely a slave-girl, but, despite her best efforts, the whispers ensnare her. Troubled, she turns to her only confidant, a prized leather journal, to record her observations.

Bailey Smith never believed in supernatural events or all of that other silly, make-believe shit. All of the myths and fairytales are, to her, exactly that-myths and fairytales. Then there is Mark Andrews. He does believe in all of that 'silly, make-believe shit'. He has secrets that not many people have to deal with. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, he struggles through life. When Bailey and Mark run into each other, is it a mistake or part of fate's grand design? Could it be possible for these two opposites to attract? Is it possible for Mark to turn Bailey superstitious?

Moordune, a land rich in people from all walks of life. Whether they be from the mountainous kingdom of the Frayik or the underground chasms of the Chrysalis kingdom. Together these kingdoms fought for Moordune from those that travel across the seas seeking to expand and grasp at the land that was not only rich in its diverse citizens but also in that of its ores and other natural resources. But even in a land such as Moordune there are always those that will never be accepted.

Was it a bad thing that I was kind of excited? I didn't know, all I knew was that I was moving to a tropical town called Centerport, and my brothers weren't too happy about it.
