Ellie is spending later of the day on Valentine's Day with the Protectors fighting monsters when Marky flies in to save her and something they never thought two Protectors could do happens...fusion. Ellie and Marky have melded into one being and while they have one mind and one verbal voice, their voices are separate in their fusion's head. And while they aren't in any immediate danger, someone is closer and closer to finding out Ellie's true identity.
