Lyra Vane, a girl experimented on for her "biological anomalies," is rescued from a lab by Grover and revealed to be a Legacy of Hypnos. Joining Percy and Annabeth's quest, she uses her "velvet fog" to camouflage them from monsters and eventually saves them from the Lotus Casino's trance. ​At Camp Half-Blood, her father Hypnos warns her that Kronos is targeting Percy through his dreams. Lyra accepts a new role as Percy's mental Gatekeeper, vowing to stay "awake" to shield his mind from the Titan's whispers as war looms.
