It is there for eleven seconds. Then it is not. At timestamp 01:24:08 Joel turns off his headlamp for thirty seconds. In the night vision frame, six feet behind him, something is standing completely still. Six feet. Joel did not know it was there. At timestamp 03:04:17 the footage cuts out for twenty-seven seconds. When it resumes, the camera is sitting upright on the edge of the platform. Aimed at the tunnel entrance. Joel is nowhere in the frame. The Red Line tunnel beneath Chicago was sealed in 1978. The transit authority's internal records document eleven separate worker incidents between 1971 and 1978. Eleven workers. Same tunnel. Same description.
