"P-p-please.." My voice was a jagged, stuttering mess. I frantically clawed at the basement floor, trying to scramble backward, but my limbs were shaking too violently to find traction. Before I could pass out, Adrien knelt over my trembling form. He shattered a thick sheet of glass against the table, holding a razor-sharp shard in his gloved hand. "You forgot whose name you carry, my dear," he whispered softly. "Let's make sure you remember." He pressed the jagged glass deep into the bare skin of my shoulder blade.
