(Takes place in the 1900's) Midnight Marie Re'al is a 7 year old girl who has a special gift. Her gift is called ability replication. She can replicate any other advanced human beings gift just by one touch and can use it for the rest of her life. Midnight's mother is the only one who understands her daughters ability and try's to help her through it, with having a father that thinks shes insane. Midnight's mother ends up growing sick and ends up passing away leaving Midnight alone with her father. Midnight's father quickly ends up getting married and puts Midnight in the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Midnight ends up spending most of her life in the Asylum, but doesn't care because she meets some friends that has ability's themselves. Midnight ends up meeting a person that has a gift of his own as well but hes not human. The man ends up telling Midnight what he is and tells her he wants her to become just like him. Soon the un-human man dies and Midnight escapes the Asylum and looks for a new life.

The institution trains very powerful people, with exceptional results. Children with the indicators are taken from their homes and watched very closely until their ability's peak. Once they have peaked, the children are put through extensive training until they become of age. But what happens to the children who don't peak? Or the children who peak, then fade. What about the children who peak, but their talents are an embarrassment? Why they're reintroduced to society, of course! Ella was born in the institution. She was supposed to have overwhelming powers, she was supposed to be one of the greats. But she never peaked, she was a dud. Just an average girl. So she was reintroduced at 10 years old. Seven years later she's been through 11 foster homes and four schools, you could say she has "attitude problems." The institution pays for followup therapy once you're released, as a way to keep tabs on you. Ella has made no progress. Her therapist suggests a support group full of people like her, as a way to get her to open up. They call themselves the superhero support group. But in reality they're just average.
