Two short stories I wrote when I was a freshman that kind of go together.

Courtlyn Ray Prescott has not had an easy life. Between Fake friends, Cheating Ex boyfriends, an abusive father, and a mother who drinks and parties every night just to get laid, there's only one person that she can trust. Since her Best Friend Trey stopped being her Best Friend because of relations with her sister, she only has one person. One person that actually treats her like a real human being: Her sister Scarlett Lennon Prescott. But is it when Courtlyn falls to her lowest point that the one person she thought she could trust betrays her? Or is it her fake so-called friends that do the unthinkable?

Two trans boys live in a small town in Arkansas where they are constantly belittled and bullied by their peers. While struggling with the challenges of life it all becomes too much.

I loved the state fair. The smell of the popcorn. The taste of the salted butter. Hearing people scream with joy. The feel of the soft fur of the stuffed animals you win. Seeing couples go on the ferris wheel. I loved the fair so much. Until the accident in 1989 happened. It could've been me, should've been me. But it wasn't. Now I live here with all the guilt to walk away with. Everyone blames me for what happened. If I were them, I would too. I mean a girl sitting with the person on the ferris wheel, and then all of the sudden, the seat falls, and that person dies while the girl walks away unharmed. That 'person' was my 6 year old brother, and that 'girl' was me. He had so much to live for. I still hear his screams and laughter from that night, only to die for my sins. I blame myself. I could have saved him, but I didn't, why? This book was a school project that developed into an actual book. I finally had the confidence to post it, so here it is.

Rylee's family has not seen Luke, Noah, Amie, or their mother Marie. Ever since moving across the country a while back, it's consisted of emotion less zoom calls and awkward birthday texts until one day Rylee's family decides to visit them for the summer. She is conflicted, her childhood crush Luke is there yet he is still hung up on her sister. So she makes a deal with the older brother, fake date, get both jealous, and that's the end. But when feelings arise, Rylee will have to figure out if this is really all so "fake".

Shes never been in a relationship.. its not because guys haven't shown he interest, its because she hasn't found the "one" that shes felt comfortable enough to express herself with. But shes not as perfect as she sounds. She struggles with anxiety, anxiety attacks, and panic attacks. She's also recovering from an eating discorder...brought on my her mother. Emma comes from a sort of loving, but very busy family, Her Mom lives for her job, Her younger brother Stiles Sweet Keeps to himself, and her twin brother, King of high school, always busy with his friends. Enter her twin brother, Issac Sweet(16), the absolute king of high school. He plays football and basketball and is as popular as can be. No one talks about how horrible it is when your twin brother is the god of high school and people tend to forget you exist once he enters the room. Worst thing ever. But.. having a popular brother includes his hot friends.. Que, Blake Richards(17), Popular guy in high school, hot, ripped as hell, A god at basketball and a jackass..the cliche jock. At school he couldn't be happier, he's on top of the world, but at home..he deals with his alcoholic father and highly sensitive younger sister, Ava Richards(9). He hasn't seen or heard from his addict mother in years, his dad doesn't work so it's up to him for bills, he has a part time job at a rec center, as well as a basketball coach for young children. From the outside, hes an asshole, but on the inside, hes broken and under pressure. He has a soft spot for very few people. His sister, Ava. His best friend Isaac, And Issac's sister Emma. Is she aware of this? Of course not.

Riley knew how to take care of himself. He wasn't good at much, but he could do that and do it well. Cycling through violence and neglect from his father, he didn't have much of a choice. When the abuse turns extreme and Riley can no longer take care of himself, he's forced to rely on the mother who abandoned him when he was five, who also has another family and doesn't appear too pleased about having him back in her life. Physically and emotionally, Riley tries to heal, only to be repeatedly knocked back down. When it comes to his mom, is there even a relationship to salvage? How many chances are too many? And at what point should he just give up and stay down like his father told him? Awesome cover art by _munroe
