Aspiring photographer and headstrong seventeen year old Sierra Rodriguez was happy with her life. As Sierra finds solace in people who didn't watch her downfall, she finds herself increasingly drawn to Nathan. If she wants to learn how to love again, she'll have to learn to forgive herself, and Nathan will have to open wounds of his own that he had been hoping to forget about. Add in the return of notorious bad news Jackson Castor, the subject of Astrid's summer affections and the boy who encouraged Sierra's spiral off the rails, and finding love and forgiveness will seem nearly impossible. "How does the mind even work?" "I've always though it's like a steam engine." "Wrong," said a man dressed as a carrot, posing as if saying something cool. "The mind is like a Hamster running on a wheel. Fast, slow or non-existent; all depends upon the one manning the treadmill." "Huh," nodded the first one in agreement. "Sounds like an excuse for someone to write a series of unconnected stories that make no sense whatsoever," nodded the second one in disagreement. "Yeah," said the man as he turned around, glaring at the eternal sky. "I guess you could say that." He then disappeared, leaving only his tacky costume behind.
