Jax and Pomni had a building friendship, things were going great. But then one little hug ruined everything. What had happened in Jax's past to make him so incredibly resistant to any kind of companionship? Whatever it was, it still haunts him to this day. Even coming back as hallucinations. But then what happens when the real version of the hallucination comes back into his life? A slow burn romance between Jax, Pomni, and Ribbit. Filled with angst, psychological horror, self-deprecation, eventual self-acceptance, and a horrible glitch slowly spreading throughout the circus. Starts during the end of episode 6.

An ordinary girl finds herself trapped in the Digital Circus. Between chaotic adventures, heartfelt friendships, and countless unforgettable moments, she slowly forms an unexpected connection with Caine. You can hardly remember what you were doing before you put on the headset. Something about a rope and an abandoned building. Your alone time has been cut short, and yet, you're still lonely. Until a certain purple rabbit decides that's no fun at all, and although isn't trying, cuts that short too... DISCLAIMERS (not required to read these, just extra info): Trigger warnings at the bottom; they're listed here so I don't have to list them in chapters This story will be told close to cannon, but is still an AU, so things will be different (especially after episode 7). There will be scenes between episodes or in the middle of episodes between scene changes. I do not own The Amazing Digital Circus, or any of the characters in this story besides my OC. All rights belong to Glitch and Gooseworx respectively. The reader will be as blank as I can make them, but this is still technically a Jax x OC. It'll still be written primarily in second person, and it'll be easy to put yourself into it, because it's not like you remember much after joining the Circus anyway... The reader is OCD coded; not like "omgggg I am so clean and everything is organized", but actual obsessive compulsive disorder, which I struggle with and figured would work well in an environment such as this. My OC is male but the story is written more gender-neutral. Low-key I'm writing this because I miss writing... no promises I finish this TRIGGER WARNINGS TADC is a heavy show. This will be a heavier story. The reader will struggle with suicide themself, along with Jax's pre-established issues. Jax will be accepting their trans identity by the end of this. She deserves so much better... This will mostly be fluff. I don't entirely know if/how much lemon will be included, but there will be disclaimers in chapters that end up being spicier.

SPOILERS FOR EP 9!!⚠️ This will be a fluffy fic since I write way too much smut. It doesn't correlate to any other one of my fics. I'm writing this to cope with episode 9. Pomni has suffered too much, Jax abstracting the biggest problem of all. But somehow, a miracle happened. Not like Jax believed in miracles anyway, maybe it was the undying wish to love. But he unabstracted, the ravid, colourful eyes, fading into soft yellow eyes. Back to the purple bunny, but not as he always was. He changed. Abstraction calms your brain, Breaks your mind, A difference in behavioural acts. Would they finally be happy? Would Jax find out his real name? Who knows. Just read the book ;-;

As it says on the tin, this is my rewrite of The Amazing Digital Circus, focusing mainly on Episodes 5-9. The second half of TADC is where most of my complaints with the series come from, and in my opinion, some of those issues end up affecting how I view the first four episodes as well. This fanfic is my attempt to fix those problems while changing as little as possible. Enjoy! I genuinely enjoy what TADC was trying to be, and this is simply my personal take on how the later episodes could have been handled differently. (Also, if you use this rewrite as an excuse to insult Gooseworx or the VAs or Glitch in general, please don't.)
