Y/N sat across from him, avoiding his gaze at all costs before deciding that the punching bag on her left seemed more interesting.
There was a long period of silence, not awkward; it was never awkward. The silence was comfortable, but that was a feeling she was never quite familiar with, so of course she broke the tranquillity.
"Why-" Y/N began through tears; her sudden wavering voice shocked Kiri, causing him to flinch, which did not go unnoticed no matter how hard he tried to cover it up.
She slowly inhaled shakily and forced the pressure down her throat before trying again, "Why is it that no matter how hard I try, everything leads back to you?" Finally the tears flowed freely down her face as her hair raged yet remained calm and undisturbed.
Still refusing to meet his gaze, all she could hear was a soft exhale, knowing he had just taken on a soft smile.
"I don't know." He replied, his rough hands reaching out to hold her insidious hands, "Maybe... we're tide-bound."
