They used to compete over everything. Marks, ranks, even the smallest classroom questions-like it actually mattered who got there first. It wasn't friendship, and it definitely wasn't anything soft. Just two stubborn kids who refused to come second.
Then, one day, they just... disappeared from each other's lives. Different schools, different routines, and eventually, no reason to remember.
At least, that's what they thought.
Years later, they end up in the same place again. Same class. Same pressure. And somehow, the same unfinished rivalry. It starts off exactly where it left-silent challenges, eye rolls, that constant need to outdo the other.
But it doesn't stay that simple.
Because this time, the tension feels different. The looks last a second too long. The arguments don't feel like just arguments anymore. And winning? It doesn't feel the same when the other person isn't smiling like they used to.
Somewhere between competition and coincidence, things start slipping out of control.
And the worst part?
Neither of them ever planned on falling for the one person they swore they couldn't stand.
