She made an attempt to escape from Shiganshina, to never face a Titan again, though she was ultimately captured and brought to trial. Her crimes ultimately brought her to the hands of the Scout Regiment; the one branch of the military she had always detested. She had always believed there was no reason to search for freedom beyond Wall Maria. All that lingered among the Titans was an undiscovered world of dead soldiers, and to search for freedom out there meant that the lives of hundreds of soldiers would be wasted. In that sense, the leaders of the Scout Regiment were practically murderers. They were criminals just as Arden Keiser now was.
