Adrienne is dissatisfied with her restricted, over-scheduled life, under the rule of her stern, controlling father. She longs for freedom. Freedom to be herself. Freedom to travel and see the the world. Freedom to love and be loved for who she is. Then, one fateful evening, she discovers Marin, her long-lost companion, on deck of a strange new ship sailing on the seas bordering France. A freak lightning storm leads to wondrous discoveries and his daring rescue by Chat Noire, during which Adrienne falls head over paws in love with him. So much so, that she's willing to make a dangerous deal with Hawkmoth's witchy new ally, trading her beautiful voice in exchange for being sent to his new home.
