I was desperate. Frustrated. At a loss and almost spiteful. Sometimes, I still feel like I drive myself crazy reaching for some form of validation. Isolation is an intense and harrowing feeling. And yet, somehow, this accumulation of emotions led to me creating this WATTPAD story. A high schooler (at the time) in the pandemic. I wanted to know that I wasn't alone. Wanted to see some form of understanding. Wanted to be known by myself. I fixated on the internet, turning to various sites and media to find solace. Yet, it just didn't scratch right. It felt like no one was talking about what I was going through, like the stigma had far too much power for me to even know what I was going through myself. This is what motivated me to write. Gave me the courage to share my experiences. Having the courage to share so that someone alike to me will see they aren't alone. To humanize what is a very human experience. So, welcome and enjoy! It's been two years since the love of your life walked out on you in your sophomore year of college for some twenty-something-year-old and moved to California. Suddenly in your loft two years later you receive a call. "Hello?" your raspy voice cracks noticing the time, two fucking thirty in the morning. "Um hello, I'm calling for Nalah Washington?" the voice echos through your ear. You can hear the nervousness in his voice. "Maybe a prank call," you thought to yourself. "May I ask who's calling sir?" you speak, a little demanding tone is heard on the receiving end. "This is Grayson Dolan-"the line goes dead as you slam the phone down onto your countertop. "Can't be, why would he fucking call me of all people?" you mumble to yourself as you cover your face with your hands sighing heavily. A fit physique forms in the kitchen doorway, your boyfriend wraps his arm around you wondering what have you in distress. "Something wrong?" he asks raking your jet black hair out of your face. "No, Somone must've had the wrong number.."

When intervention, in an unlikely form, makes two individuals head for Heathcliffe, their paths cross and collide. Hitchhiking, endless cups of tea, Anne Frank, sea side, one torrid affair, a bottle green daffodil: all these leads to the notion of love and lust, of realism and surrealism being examined. He was my sunflower in a field of roses - bright, warm, and unforgettable. We laughed, loved, and held each other close, but sometimes love asks us to step back. To grow, to learn, and to find ourselves in our own paths, even if it means letting go for a while. These pages hold the unspoken words, the quiet wishes, and the moments that will never come again. Yet in the space between distance and memory, the heart still wonders: if it's truly meant to be, destiny will find a way.
