Shirk - a term mostly identified as polytheism, but also used to describe evasion of responsibility or obtaining through trickery. Shirk in Disguise is a tale of Reality and Illusion, the Superficial and the Substantial, side by side; the story of Azeema, an intriguing personality with an interesting past and a devastating end. Having grown up with losses and denials, she had longed for the glitz and glamour she saw in others' lives. She came of age surrounded by grinning crocodiles and toxic relationships, clutching at straws. Coupled with her own personal faults which influenced her choices, these finally led her to Shirk in Disguise. However, her parents' choices, the society's views and the vengeful determination of an unforgiving soul also played a part in her story. Hence, it's beyond the story of one or two. Rather, it's a story of All, for All, with messages suitable for all reading ages.

À 18 ans, Hanae Takahashi a déjà essayé presque tout. Peinture, piano, photographie, danse, cuisine, poterie... Elle s'intéresse à tout, apprend vite, mais finit toujours par se lasser. Alors que tout le monde autour d'elle semble déjà savoir ce qu'il veut faire de sa vie, Hanae n'a aucune idée des études qu'elle veut choisir ni du métier qu'elle pourrait aimer. Pour trouver une réponse, elle se rend dans un centre spécialisé dans l'orientation et les tests de personnalité. C'est là qu'elle rencontre Riku Nakamura, 19 ans, stagiaire pour l'été. Sportif, sociable et beaucoup trop amusé par ses propres blagues, il ne croit pas vraiment aux questionnaires capables de décider de l'avenir de quelqu'un. Alors il lui propose quelque chose de beaucoup plus simple. Passer tout l'été ensemble à essayer des activités différentes jusqu'à ce qu'Hanae trouve enfin quelque chose qui lui donne envie de rester. Peinture. Karaoké. Poterie. Cuisine. Photographie. Travail dans le petit commerce de ses parents. Et tout ce qu'ils pourront imaginer. Mais au fil des semaines, Hanae commence à se demander si elle cherche vraiment une passion... ou simplement une raison de ne pas avoir peur de son avenir. Et lorsque la rentrée approche, une nouvelle question apparaît. Et si la chose qu'elle avait le plus envie de garder de cet été n'était pas une activité, mais lui ? Parce qu'on ne peut pas toujours savoir où l'on va. Parfois, il faut simplement trouver quelqu'un avec qui accepter de se perdre.
