They won't stop talking to me. I keep playing the same character and I can't level up: myself I'm 25, unemployed, broke, and one bad decision away from making rum and video games my entire personality. Then, strangers start confessing things to me: "Someone who looks exactly like me is ruining my life." "I think my therapist is a vampire." "There's something in the lake." "I see ghosts all over campus. And they're angry." I don't know why people keep supernatural trauma dumping on me. I didn't ask for the stories. But once people start telling them, I can't help but listen. Then Alex appears - British, bossy, and annoyingly attractive - and he tells me that I'm a Listener. It sounds simple but Listening has side effects. Like energy drains, nightmares, and voices whispering to me in the darkness. And some of the storytellers are dangerous. So I decide to use my screwed up life to start a podcast. It's got my voice. And their monster stories. It's supposed to be a record of what happened. It was a new feeling, the feeling of responsibility and pressure; just like yesterday we want to be an adult, but now here we are facing a lot of pressure and question. Yesterday is history where we feel like we know everything, but now that we are entering the adulting we feel that we don't know a thing, and it's ok. ______________ This is some thoughts inside my head now that I'm entering adulthood.
