Zack literally transcends universes to reunite with Cloud, and they say they're "just friends." This takes place after the events of FF7 Rebirth, Clouds POV.

What is written here presumes to call itself a promise. A touching delusion. A promise suggests agency... yet every word carries the weight of knowing the outcome was never hers to command. To cling to one another so tightly. To hold on as though that alone could defy what is certain. It only ensures they fall together. Fascinating. A will so determined to misunderstand the nature of power... and yet so unwilling to release its grip. Tell me... is this defiance? Or merely the instinct of a flower turning toward a sun that will inevitably consume it?
