Blotting the paper mind with ink filled thoughts

The world was bright, the sky was clear, When love was young and you were near... We built a castle in the sand, And held tomorrow in our hand... But seasons change and shadows fall, And silence echoed through the hall... The promise broke, the dream took flight, And left me stranded in the night... A broken heart is quiet pain, Like standing lonely in the rain... It feels as though the sun has died, With all the tears I kept inside... But life goes on, the river flows, And through the dark, a flower grows... The deepest scars begin to fade, As light steps into where it's grayed... I'm picking up the pieces now, To mend my heavy heart somehow. The past is gone, the air is clean, I'm stepping into paths unseen. It takes some time to heal the sore, To open up another door... But day by day, the shadows bend, And I am learning how to smile again...
