I ask why us? Why, is it because I'm unarmed Is it because I'm walking with a hoodie Is it because of my skin being darker than yours Is it because I'm poor Is it because I'm different Is it because I'm black Is it because you think I'm in a gang Is it because you think I'm a theft Is it because you think I killed someone Is it because you think I have a warrant Is it because you think you think I've been to jail Is it because you think, I'm a threat Is it because you think, I'll kill you Is it because you think, I'm armed I didn't do anything, why me. I put my hands up, as tears fall from my face I'm a father, a brother, a sister, a mother, a son, a daughter, a friend, a lover, a person of faith. I didn't do nothing " I can't breathe." "Please, I can't breathe." I ask why us? Why me, why her, why him, why my family, why my friend, why my community. Why America ? Why ? Why us, our lives matter too. My life matter.
