ABAGIHANGA is an epic historical drama series that tells the story of Rwanda from its earliest foundations to the modern era. Through generations of kings, leaders, warriors, farmers, craftsmen, thinkers, and ordinary citizens, the series explores how a nation was shaped by the hands of millions of people.
Built on 80% historical research and 20% dramatic storytelling, ABAGIHANGA combines documented history, oral traditions, and human stories to create a powerful journey through time.
The series does not focus only on kings and battles. It reveals the complete structure of a society:
The monarchy and royal institutions
The wisdom of kings and advisers
The role of Abiru who preserved history and traditions
The work of Abatware and administrators who governed communities
The army that protected the kingdom
The intelligence networks and messengers who gathered information
The economy built by farmers, cattle keepers, traders, and craftsmen
The lives of ordinary families who carried the nation every day
The servants and workers within the royal system
The struggles, sacrifices, victories, and transformations that shaped Rwanda
From the legendary stories surrounding Gihanga, the expansion of the Nyiginya Kingdom, the era of powerful rulers such as Ruganzu Ndoli, the arrival of foreign powers, colonial transformation, independence, the tragedy of 1994, and Rwanda's rebuilding journey, ABAGIHANGA presents history through the eyes of both the powerful and the forgotten.
At its heart, ABAGIHANGA asks one question:
"Who truly builds a nation?"
The answer is found not only in palaces, but also in villages, farms, battlefields, workshops, and families.
Because history is not created by one person.
History is created by those who build.
